no doubt mandatory use of HANS devices in circuit racing will filter down to all levels of circuit racing. It always does with safety regs - like window nets etc did. As you said, QR have already made it a requirement for races at Lakeside next year. They can move faster than CAMS because they're basically a one man show rather than a beauracracy, and the fact that there's a quid in it for them doesn't hurt either...

But just like window nets (and other things) they won't/can't make it mandatory for road cars doing sprints regardless of what over-officious State Panel members might be discussing. To do so they would have to force road registered cars to fit a safety cage (illegal for road use now under NCOP), race seat, harness as a minimum to make the use of a HANS device possible. Basically they'd be removing all the sensible provisions for road cars from their regulations.


but I see he's got a caged race car build happening, so your advice is spot on - get a HANS compatible helmet.
