It looks good as is. My philosophy is that functional things have their own beauty.

If you went to coil on plug ignition you would get rid of the distributor, the former coil and the plug wires.
It may take an unreasonable amount of effort.

A few years ago, I made a car that required the body to be removed to get to its engine. The engine I was running had twice the power of the cars I would be competing with and looked obviously different.
I also painted parts that I did not want seen flat black.
I knew a builder who put his car in shows with a dummy engine in it just for appearance.

Guys used to run spark plug wires parallel in chrome tubes. It looked great but sparks jumped rom wire to wire and to the metal tubing reducing the engine's power. Plug leads run alongside eachother can crossfire. Todays wires are better but I stand the plug wires off from eachother if they must run paralel with eachother. Although you could run the plug wires down under the engine, doing so has disadvantages.

You can locate chrome and polished aluminum parts high in the engine compartment where they will dazzle the eye obscuring lower parts which could be very dark blue or black.

You are doing it for enjoyment, keep it fun and do what is important for you.
