Hi Datsun fans,
I have been meaning to make a project thread for a while and now that I have 99% finished my 1200 sedan I have a bit of extra time.
I bought it as a project car and pretty much started everything from scratch again making it how i wanted. At the moment it is still in stock paint but I will be getting a respray in the future. All of my focus has been on building a strong drivetrain, lots of power and excellent handling which I have achieved with a lot of head scratching, time and effort.
It is running a ca18det engine with custom engine and gearbox crossmembers made by myself (the maddat ones that were supplied were not used). I was able to get the engine a little lower and further back to lower the centre of gravity and weight over the front to increase handling.
ENGINE The head has had over 30 hours of porting done with the majority of work done to increase flow in the exhaust ports. The inlets have larger rb26 tuliped and swirl polished stainless inlet valves shortened with collet groove machined. The exhaust valves are stock and have been backcut. I will replace these with larger ones when I swap over engines to the forged one I am building on the side. The inlets have been port matched and ported for more flow and a 76mm ford falcon throttle body has been mated to the stock plenum.
The current engine has been rebuilt with standard pistons and rods Balanced to .1gram. The pistons have chromoly rings and the rods have been balanced and prepped with arp studs. The oil pump was ported to increase flow.
A cometic 1.2mm mls gasket and arp head studs are used to fit the both together. So far it has held up to the 23psi of boost so we will see how far i can take it as soon as I get a larger fuel pump and 3 bar map sensor (currently 255lph in tank and 2.5 bar map sensor).
bolts ons are custom steampipe exhaust manifold with tial 44mm external waste gate and td06sl225g aka t67 with a 10cm rear housing and antisurge front cover (turbo is port matched to manifold). 3" mild steel mandrel exhaust with stainless cat and xforce straight through muffler. siemen deka 80lb injectors with modified fuel rail to suit 14mm feed and a tomei fuel pressure regulator. Huge fmic all hidden behind grill. n13 radiator with twin 12 thermos Haltech E6x ecu aem wideband sensor with gauge. Haltech dual post external coil packs.
Thats all I can think of at the moment but i'm sure there is plenty more. I will post more about the driveline as soon as I get more time :)
Cheers Dan
