For a stock motor there will really be no performance advantage. There are some advantages; when mechanical pumps fail they tend to leak fuel, if the car is going to be parked for a bit you can pump the tank out, on my race car I have a toggle switch for the pump so before I park the car I turn the pump off and run the float bowls near dry........as my car ends up parked for up to two months over the summer (it's 112 degrees out) this keeps the carbs from getting gunked up. Also should you ever run your car out of gas it makes it easier to fire up.................ask me how I know.
