We are talking BOV ( i know I am! are you?)

Air has to go in the inlet of the turbo ( the compressor )
then through the engine then through the exhaust manifold to the turbine wheel then out the exhaust!

Please come back when you understand the principals of how an engine operates!
Then you can say this is how it works!
Otherwise ask how an engine works then you will start to learn!
