It could be many things;
* fuel pressure not correct. It should be 3.2 psi * carb busted * mechanical advance broken * bad leads
and many other things. Do the easiest checks first. That don't require any tools nor any time practically. Like inspect the inside of the distributor cap. Check the rotor for looseness. Visually check each lead. If you pull a lead out of the cap and it's oxidized, that a clue that it may be bad.
All the A-series I have seen, including many N10s, and the A14E/A14E, all use vacuum advance. So likely someone has modified your distributor. Maybe they locked the mechanical advance, in which case it will be no good for a non-turbo application.
