Not all Electronic Ignition is high-energy, notably the Pertronix Ignitor is low energy and - according to Pertronix - requires the stock coil or a coil of similar specification. Some guys have used high-energy coils, but Pertronix won't warranty it. The just-released Pertronix Ignitor II is a high-energy ignitor.

High-energy ignitors typically use a 0.7 ohm coil.

Low-energy ignitors use a 1.5 ohm coil.

See EI Coil for typical brands. It lists Nissan, Bosch and MSD brands with part numbers.
