Hi all. I have a 120Y B210 sedan and have been gathering some shock info from various sites. Somebody can update the Wiki if they like. Some of the info is existing.

Front KYB Z31 front part number is 365056. It's not a mono tube shock (Gas-A-Just NLA) but it has apparently 50% more rebound valving than say a Datsun sedan shock. Probably only for 2" struts. It's shorter so will need shortened struts or spacers. Reported to work best with 250lb springs, which is getting up there for a little 1200. 200lb apparently is a little soft for the shock.

Will fit 120Y/1200 sedan as it's the same stock length. If leafs are reset you may want shorter shocks.
This is a mono tube shock (like Bilsteins) and is reported to be excellent value for money and offer great performance. Suits sedan only as utes and coupes are shorter.

Prices can be easily found via eBay.

Commodore wagon rear from VB to VS are also around 505-517mm extended and have the same type of mount (not sure of bush diameter though). These could be ok if the valving suits.

The '68-'69 Camaro rear option is reported to be very over damped for a Datsun, even the cheapie shocks are reported to be too stiff for general use. Adjustable AGX versions have been used on some Datsuns and only the bottom three settings are usable. Not a preferred option.

I am personally a fan of Bilsteins but I have heard excellent comparison reports from Baz at Datsport on the other Datsun site. KYBs are reported to be better value in some regards as the valving works out of the box. Bang for bucks you would have to import Bilsteins from the U.S. and they would be nearly twice the price as locally sourced KYB's, and valving may need a tweak to suit your application.
