Nick (Suppafatto) actually suggested to just take out the helper spring and that should bring it all up and should allow for enough clearance

Yes - but 'I think' i'm correct in saying the helper springs are there to stop the spring from becoming "uncaptive" under full droop and could move off their locators, could be wrong .

If you do take them out , jack the front of the car so the front wheels are off the ground and see if the springs are loose?
