Yes, you can check it before installing

Open the bonnet, disconnect the Coil+ wire. Connect it to tachometer Loop, then other side of Loop to Coil+. Run a jumper wire from Battery- to tachometer Ground. Run another jumper wire from Battery_12V+ to tachometer_12V+
