So while researching some motor parts I noticed that 1.6 Miata crank journal dimensions are very close to A-Series. Also knowing that the bore centers are the same because of the twin cam head project thread it got me thinking would a Miata crank fit?

Mazda stroke is 83.50 and piston pin height is 32mm, rod length is 133mm so if it did fit you need mill 2.75mm off the piston crown. You can also get 78.75mm pistons.

We actually have a spare 1.6 Mazda engine that came with my son's Miata as well as a spare A15. I've got 9000 to dos so it could be decades before I got to it.

It's an intriguing thought that in reality wouldn't be that simple but ijust putting it out there.
