I guess the chais froys may be how you pronounce cheese fries if you are from Central Queensland...But Fries is not an Aussie word ..they should be cheese chips.

I was once shocked.. When I was once in Duluth MN, I asked for a steak and chips..I got crisps..what's all that about..Is that a meal?? OH man! Good thing I had plenty of beers to wash it all down.

Yeah I agree. I live in Sydney, and always have. We are less Australian than most. I think the global Aussie stereotype comes from Central Queensland or the Northern Territory. I'm reasonably happy having them as the Aussie Stereotype.

There's an Outback Steakhouse out near Parklea Markets in western Sydney. I've seen a few of the Outback Steakhouses around San Francisco. I'll have to go there again this April for work. Then I'll try out the Aussie version when I get back.

As an aside, I personally think McDonalds tastes much better in Australia. The US ones are too greasy. I think it comes out of the cheese and the beef. I've tasted Maccas in maybe 8 different Countries...

Shrimp on the barby..It's so "un-Australian" We call them prawns! It should be Prawns on the Barby (Which is of course short for Barbeque)

So if you want to improve your Australian..Try and watch the movie "The Castle" and catch up on some Home and Away or Neighbours...I'm not sure that they play in the USA though.

I also think that Sydney is the most international place in the world for food! We have the best of everything..except possibly Mexican food...You can't beat some places in Southern California....I've just eaten my dinner...Why am I hungry again!!!
