Hey why120y, You mentioned you left the main (eyed ) leaf there in place, reversing the other leaves. My understanding of reverse eyes, correct me somebody if wrong, is to just reverse the position of the spring leaf eyes, so the eyes, instead of being over the rest of the leafs(as seen from the side, the eyes are above the plain of the main leafs)...the eyes are "reversed", so that when seing the spring sideways, the eyes are below the main leaf plain. That lowers the vehicle about the amount of the distance the eye is changed of position, ussually about one to one and 1/2 inches. Added to decambering(flatening, getting rid of the curvature of the leaves)...which I did to my car, (I got my 120Y decambered, not eye reversed)...which takes away about 2 inches, you could drop the car 3 inches. I was told by the spring shop that the max amount decambering can drop the car(straightening/flattening the leaf spring assembly) is 3 inches. I opted for 2, leaving the extra inch for later after the wheel set up is final(I plan to use at the rear 235/50/13.on 13X9 wheels.). Decambered springs, should look flat straight, no curvature up nor down. The reversed eye would not change the flat state, just the position of the spring relative to the car because of the new eye position. Do not allow your springs to curve downwards, if that happens, you must add a leaf (weak leaves) or have a stronger main leaf installed. If allowed to curve downwards, your leaves would be overwhelmed, in no position to effectively help your suspension support the car.Remember, reversed eye only means to reverse the eye of the springs by heating the main leaf(where the eyes are positioned/eyes are part/extension of the main leaf) and redoing the eye below, as opposed to over the main leaf, so as to have the body of the car hanging below the main leaf height(bolt at bracket to be more precise). In the normal eyed spring, the bolt/bracket eye junction is above the main leaf height. You are not supposed to reposition any leaves within the leaf spring assembly.
Good luck. I like your project. Do it right.
Jaime.
