I haven't driven the STI yet, but I was not impressed with the 2 liter WRX. There was no torque below 3000 rpm. Once the turbo hit, it screamed to redline though. The 2.5 turbo in the STI could help with that bottom end torque problem, but I'll bet they lowered the compression so much that it is soggy down low too. Again, I haven't driven one, so I don't know.
Also, in my opinion, the longer wheelbase of the Legacy (Liberty) handles better and is more stable. I'd stay with the Leg. In fact, I am going to stay with my Legacy instead of trading for an STI.

Here's a "bunny" for the thread: I'm giving thought to an all wheel drive 1200 using a Subaru 2.2 SOHC engine and transaxle.
