Its a combination of things that let them rev more, you need head work such as stronger/double valve springs and possibly bottom end work as well to make them stand up to those revs. You also need a hotter cam though as if you build a motor to pull those revs and leave the std cam in it itll make its peak power at 5000rpm or some equally low number so there will be no point in using the extra revs.

Ive heard of plenty of A series running 8krpm+. All it takes is money.

The smaller A12 A13 etc is better if you want to pull high revs as its got a shorter stroke
