I now have an original Datsun 1000 ad from the January 1970 edition of the Readers Digest, so now we have established that there was a 1970 "model", & that they were "sold" in 1970, but your question was "were they MADE in 1970." Still working on that one.

If anyone knows what month the 1200 was released in Australia, this might give a clue as it would take some months between the time a car was made, transported to Australia, distributed to the various state distributors, then to the dealers, & finally to a buyer.
If 1200's came out in Feb or March, then the answer is most likely to be no.
