First thing I'd have said would be head gasket.. Could be that the head is warped?

I've not seen a split in the block between oil and water galleries before. Does water and oil go up into the head? I think it does, maybe the split is in the head.

I guess it's possible. But seriously another engine shouldn't break the bank.

I'd be interested in what the mechanics among us think about these symptoms.
