Hello to All,
I've just rejoined this group and wanted to post about my recent success at getting my electric 1200 down the 1/4 mile a bit quicker.
At the NEDRA races in Woodburn, OR over Labr Day, 'White Zombie', my electridied '72 1200 street legal sedan, posted a 12.598 @ 103.92 mph on street legal BF Goodrich Drag radials. The current (pun intended) setup is my new 'Siamese 8' twin armature electric motor coupled direct drive (no flywheel, clutch or tranny) via an aluminum driveline to a Dutchman Motorsports rear axle setup with Ford 9 inch w/Detroit Locker & Strange 4:57 gears, and 31 spline axles. Battery power comes from 29 small 26 ahr, 24 lb. Hawker Aerobatteries@ 348V run through a Zilla 2000 amp motor controller.
We never turned the battery current limit any higher than 900 amps (we can safely go as high as 1500 amps), and had to back off the controller as we were traction limited at anything higher than 1500 motor amps (1500 amps in series mode, 2000 amps in parallel mode), when we ran the above time. We''re hitting the PIR track this weekend in hopes of running a 12.3 @ ~ 106 mph with the controller turned up a bit after some mods to the traction bar length.
