Pertronix Ignition problems

Hi all,

Just wondering if someone can help me out here. I have just fitted a Pertronix 1741 electronic ignition kit to my A14 (as the dizzy's points were screwed, and points tick me off to no end). I followed the excuse for an instruction as best as I could, even double checked it with others on the web who'd fitted the same kit.

Now if I connect the dizzy earth wire to the tab on the vacuum advance thingo, it stalls and will not start. Previously this wire was connected to the tab that was where the wires for the Pertronix kit feed through. Whilst I can get the car to start without this wire connected, I lose my tacho as a result (I have the 1200 coupe dash fitted).

It ticks me off as I tend to drive by my tacho, and not by my speedo, which is highly inaccurate, it's about 4-5 kms out at 80km/h, but when I'm doing 130km/h by the speedo, I'm actually just doing 110km/h.

Also with these Pertronix kits, would it be worth it to look into a capacitor discharge ignition (CDI)? It's only a street car, but usually gets driven pretty hard.

Thanks,

Chris
