Somebody asked me in another thread (I forget which) what the deal was with my avatar. Well, I guess it's my way of protesting against the current issues with fossil fuel in our society: outrageously inflated gas prices in California, manipulation of the price of a barrel of oil by the haves, people continuing to buy huge SUV's, greed, greed & more greed. I know we often don't get political here, but that's my little spiel for the day.

Some protest. The only thing that most corporations pay attention to is the bottom line. If you stop buying so much fuel, say auto fuel sales drop 50%, oh yeah, prices will drop ...

I love that ad "Datsun Saves". If a large percentage of drivers trade in thier 20mpg SUVs on 37.8 + mpg economy cars, that would be something ... (37.8 is the EPA highway mpg rating for the Datsun 1200).

Its incredible how the oil companies had colluded, no more fair competition, this is been going on since I can remenber, 1990, every year the same drill, robbery, and now it has gotten extreme. Bush is got to go, he is an idiot, and also a thief, his family(oil family) is pocketing millions, as well as the oil industry. They do not want to make more refineries, use american oil, and keep formulating these stupid (each state has its own stupid different gas formula, so that gasoline from overseas cannot be used if imported)individual gas formulas, perpetuating this artificial situation, making zillions in the process.
Bush is the worst enemy this country and the world has.

What a load of crap.

A few years back I drove from Maryland (east coast) to California. The gas prices were pretty consistent untill we got to Arizona. Then in California... forget about it.
I'm actually surprised the prices have not gone higher. I feel that most of the complaints are from people that will be forced to downsize their SUV's to a Corolla. My wife drives our 2002 Chevy Blazer (18mpg). She drives around town and only 1.5 miles to work. If her job was alot further, we would definately be looking for a new car.
Most everyone I know laughs at my car. "You look like a clown getting out of a mini car at the circus". I remind them that it gets 32mpg and the laughing stops.
The truth is that I don't pay too much attention to the price of gas. If it went up to $5 a gallon i would still fill up because there ain't no bus around here at 5am to take me to work.

Again, the consumer has the power to lower prices and it's not by complaining. The average person could start buying less gasoline. Instead they worry about image ("I can't drive a clown car") and a hundred other excuses. Instead of an 18mpg SUV, they could get a 22mpg midsize sedan. But they don't want to ... why did Honda stop selling the 58mpg Civic HF? Because the oil company forced them to? I don't think so. Problem is that, sad to say, we in America are taught from an early age to "follow the law, respect the law" which is not bad, but also, and here is the problem, "never question the law" So , Americans in general do not fight for their rights, for whatever they feel they have to fight for, because the law is not there to be questioned, but to be followed,sad to say, it is a country of (politically speaking) cattle. The establishment knows it, and takes advantage of it,abusing people all the time, ennacting any law they want to get money when needed,( like the recent one in Ca, you will be pulled over and given a ticket/infracction if you do not turn your lights on in bad weather, not talking about storms, in which obviously people turn on their lights, but this is a case of a "just dark" day, when an officer can decide he can site you at will, not really needed, but, money talks...)... making it "legal" to steal coerce money from anybody at will(at will, because it is "legal", it,s the law).They know 99% of Americans will follow the "law". I agree with some of the statements I read. A president that got power illegally, using legal games as opposed to the will of his constituents, who grossly lies and misrepresents facts(like the weapons of mass destruction), who uses the sacred post of president to take care of a family/personal vendetta(Sr Bush /Saddam H), who invades countries at will, under his reason of self defense, ignoring the United Nations protocol, putting his nation over the whole world, a person like that, who decided he is not under the jurisdiction of the Geneva convention, is just telling the rest of the world that, everything goes, no respect for anything, I invade you because the laws of MY Nation say it is fine, (then,any nation in this planet can invade anyother under the same barbaric principle), Geneva convention is not necesary, the US does what it wants, the US officers are not bound by the crimes against humanity courts , in other words, we common americans have been insulted and dragged down into the mud by this clown, he's got to go, he respects nobody. He has created a lot of enemies for America, attempted and even put goverments against the will of it's own people( Australia in majority was against the war in Iraq, same as Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, and other countries which for Suspitious reasons , their goverments acted against their people in favor of Mr. Bush)... showing off how much this individual believes in Democracy and the will of the people.
This post is getting too long, but, not all Americans are like bush my friends, I would say 90% is totally different and opposed to this guy, a shame on us, a shame for the world.

Even if bush was overthrown by the people (I wish) and publicly executed (I wish even more) That couldn't bring back to life the thousands of INNOCENT poeple who have lost their lives in the name of bush's personal crusade to further his (and his mates) personal fortunes. When bush says that he needs more money for militay spending, In the name of homeland security, all the money he is diverting from schools and social security etc, and giving to the manufacturers of weapons like lockheed and the like. What many may not realise, is that the key figures in the bush administration, own Controling shares in these wepons companys. Long story short, bush is stealing from the American taxpayer to make his mates rich.( the by product of this is third world women and children being bombed back to the stone age)
Whoever replaces this criminal thug as president after november will have a hell of a job trying to fix the biggest budget deficit in American history,(when he took over there was a massive surplus which he gave to his mates with tax cuts to the rich) but will have an even bigger battle preventing Islamic miltant warlords overthrowing the US apointed puppet government in Iraq, and forming a fundamentalist islamic state,who will pose an even greater threat to the American people, who really arent to blame for the actions of a few Evil men.
