I've got a question I'm hopeing someone can answer. Some people say that when you have done the CA18DET transplant, that a mod that has to be done is changing the fuel nozzle part, to an unleaded one, they are narrower then the standard 1200 one they also have a little door part. my question is why is this needed, I heard the only reason that unleaded fuel cars have that nozzle is so that you can't put lead replacment in by mistake as the LRP has a wider fuel nozzle on the fuel pump.

I hope I'm making sense. But pwoplw who have done the conversion here don't have to change it over as the engineer doesn't think its a needed thing.

But other people tell me it is. Can anyone shine any light on this subject????

Thanks
Damo

mine was done so it could be engineered. the engineer said no unleaded only fuel filler no certificate. i thought it was so super cant be put in, thats leaded anyway isnt it??

i think people who havent done it dont have certificates.

if you go to an engineer they usally give you a simple list of things that must be done befor they even look at the car? mine did and this was one of the requiements.

Hope that helps.

my understanding of conversion rules is that you must convert to unleadead nozzle to get cert... but in queensland engineers do anything they want, thats why they are cracking down up there... re: no more airbag low riders

Damo it comes down to what ADR's your engineer requires you to meet for registration. If it has been stated that you are required to fit a catylatic converter in your exhaust system it will also be a requirement to fit the unleaded filler nozzle. The reason being is any thing other than unleaded or premium fuel destroys the catylatic converter and stops it from reducing emissions.
Your engineer or whoever does the blueslip will tell you what is required.
Cheers steve

im pretty sure u can get inserts that u tack weld into ur original filler so it only accepts the smaller unleaded nozzle...

you'd want to remove the filler neck and give it a good clean out before welding of course..

It purifies the exhaust gases so they arent bad for the environment.

It convert harmful or poisoness compounds/gases that are expelled from an engine into harmless compunds/gases. It's llike a poisoness air filter. If Im wrong, someone let me know so I can be right next time.

im also thinking bout this at the moment but my plan was to remove the fuel tank all together and run a fuel cell in the tray of my ute not not only does it erase the fuel nozzle problem but makes running the whole efi system much more easy.

The only thing is im not sure if fuel cells can be engineered.
