Heya all,
I did a compression test on my Ca last night with the following results.... (all in psi)
Cylinder 1. 145 150
Cylinder 2. 140 145
Cylinder 3. 150 150
Cylinder 4. 90 90

The CA's are 172 from the shop and can be as low as 142 with an allowable difference of 14. Time to do some work/investigating!!

I know how you feel, first time I fired up my CA18DET water got into the oil. So that gave me an excuse to re con the motor and so I did now it's all good :)

to recon teh motor it cost me $415 in gaskets/bearings and rings. (300 of that was a Full CA18 gasket kit from ACL)

Then $300 to get the head reconned as well, crack tested, seats reground, acid dipped faced.

But now it's all good

Cheers
Damo

Thanks for the costing info Demojob. It's good to learn what things cost. I got my engine "done" by someone else, I wasn't sure how much it'd all cost. $300 for gaskets is pretty good. What gaskets does this include?

My CA18 is maybe only weeks away from being started I didn't get it installed this weekend, but it should be going in next weekend.

Cheers.

Scotty, what's the second number for each cylinder? Just a second reading, or a reading after putting oil into the cylinder?

ddgonzal, sorry should have pointed that out. The second number is a second reading. I didn't take a reading with oil in the cylinder.

Dattodude, that price includes ALL gaskets and all seals. Except the semi circle sump seals, but everything else is included

Cheers
