No market for the conversion, because the SR20DET conversion is illegal in most Aussie states.

I once heard rumours that the SR20 and CA18 shared the same crossmember in the S13 180SX/Silvia?? Can anyone confirm this?

If this is true, then the CA18 kit will be a good start.

I don't know why so many people look for conversion kits (engine/gearbox crossmembers), when that's the easy part of the conversion. So people pay several hundred dollars for a kit, that locks them into a project that is probably beyond the skills of many people to complete.

Anyway, that's what I know on the subject.

Far as I know, a conversion kit does not exist. Engine mounts aren't hard to make for the SR20. All you need is a raised platform off of the crossmember that provides a 45 degree angle for the original SR mounts to sit on. From there you can adjust the height and how far back you want the engine to sit just by trimming the mounts down before you weld them.

Other things to consider in the conversion is if your car is left or right hand drive...going with a hydraulic clutch on the right side of the transmission; trimming the transmission tunnel if your 1200 was originally a 4 speed; moving the handbrake back; having a custom driveshaft made up; moving the battery to the trunk; making transmission mounts; plumbing a bigger, better fuel system. You also may have to reroute some of the brake/fuel lines so they're not inside the transmission tunnel, I haven't gotten that far yet. Just thought I'd list a couple things to consider.

Fill out your profile. If you are in Brisbane I can point you to someone who can help, he has done a few with the N/A engine as it is legal. It might fit on a CA crossmember but will everyting else clear? Manifolds etc. . .
