Can anyone tell me the difference between a NGK BP6E plug and a NGK BP6ES.
I`m not quite sure why the 'S' is tacked on the end ?

Rogue:

B - thread diameter (14mm)
P - projected insulator type
6 - heat range (2 is hot, 11 is cold)
E - thread reach (19mm)

S - standard 2.5mm centre electrode. If this symbol is not on the plug type, then it has a factory centre electrode. not sure of the size. The S means the electrode is a little more fandangle.

The S stands for Copper core centre electrode (SUPER) . . . I guess it was an advanve in it's day!

While we are on the subject of spark plugs.

How tight must they be turned in when installing them. Anybody have the Nm torque setting?
Must I put a light film of oil on the groves before installing them?

For those that like a lot of boost, particularly if you add a little NOx, try NGK BPRxEIX plugs
The [x] is the heat range of your choice.

I will be using BPR6EIX plugs in mine & i bought a set last week. These are one of the few plugs that will live with NOx. They are not cheap, but will probably outlive your engine if you are into thrashing.

My B310 [SUNNY] Factory service manual [engine maintainance section] says plugs should be tightened to
15 - 20 N.m
1.5 - 2.0 kg.m
11 - 14 ft.lb [pick one]
It makes no reference to lubrication of the threads, so put them in CLEAN & dry.

P.S. The "R" is for resistor, & no, it won't hurt performance, but for me, it will help ensure that my original AM radio can receive "Radio National" nice & clear.
