L series bottom ends are reknowned for their strength. just prep the factory rods properly and they will cop alot of punishment. How crazy are you intending to go with boost?

probably no more than 1 bar or so. the turbo i have is rather large so i'm going to have to turn the engine quite hard what sort of revs are they capable of as i havn't had a great deal of experience with l series thanx

Hey from memory, the L series rod in the competition manual is actually an FJ20 rod...

I doubt it'd be possible to break an L18 bottom end using FJ rods! (the heads might fall off the valves however....)

I would be surprised if the stock L18 rods aren't up to the task. L-series are pretty tough motors. Aren't the stock rods steel anyway?
