Mystery GX intake manifold heater hose?

Hi,
My intake manifold has a fitting for a hose coming out of the manifold on the same side as the timing cover. It connects to the water passages in the intake manifold. Is it okay to block off this pipe fitting, or should it be joined up with the hose leading to the heater?

Whats the mystery? It connects, with a hose, to a fitting in the coolant inlet pipe on the block. This is the pipe that the lower radiator hose fits onto. It has nothing to do with the heater system.
To have your engine running as well as the factory intended, drill a hole in the pipe & braze in a fitting for the hose.

I'm putting the intake on a car that didn't originally come with it (I'm switching my single-carb A10 for the dual GX carb A14 on my '74 E10 Cherry) so I wasn't sure where to hook everything up. The water pipe coming out of my block already has a smaller pipe coming out of it which connects with a hose to my heater core.

datsunE10, is the E10 a rare car in the USA? I though they didn't start selling Cherry's here until the F10. Tell us more about your car.

In the 1200 car, the GX fitting was on the pipe, while the heater hose fitting was in the middle of the lower radiator hose. This hose was in two sections & a sleve, with a heater hose fitting, was used to join them. This may be a solution for you too.

Hi,
I made friends with someone working with the RAF in England, so the car came to the USA in some extra space on a cargo plane (he said: "Here's how it works, the car arrives at the airport in England with beer in the trunk, then arrives in the USA with no beer in the trunk."). Too simple a plan to refuse.
I think it is the only E10 in the country, unless someone else had one imported. F10's are extremely rare in the US... they were much less popular than the B210. My car was recently hit by a taxi while it was parked. Do you know anyone with a source for an E10 estate doorskin or rear quarter panel?

I spotted a picture of the hoses in the photo section... it all makes sense now! Thanks!

Hi Will, kudos to you for having the rare bird. It's not a Datsun 1200, but shares the same engine series (got any pics of your engine?). I reckon only the Sunnys and Cherrys used the A-type engine. Even the "vanette" is called a sunny, is it not?

Nice to see there is at least one E10 cherry in the States. This was a very popular car in Europe,so if you need body panels your best chance would be to contact one of the european Datsun clubs and see if they can help you (seems they have nice stocks of parts in England,Finland and Norway).Shipping costs could be very expensive though (unless the RAF can help again!).Also,I beleive the wagon was the rarest model of them, even rarer than the coup
