I wrecked one of my cars awhile ago and decided to part it out it was a 81 Toyota Corolla SR5, and I was wondering if the rear diff would work, and what gear ratios where available, also do the make a limited slip or "posi" unit for these?

It's a small diff, very much a tack on. Would break under any sort of load. I think even an A14 might break it.

I have dreamt of hotup parts for the 4WD SR5 Corolla, that would allow me to graft it under an AE86 and create a Toyota GTiR

So..I've thought about these things on several occasions. I don't think it's worth the trouble.

What would be a good diff to use with out alot of mods?

You're living nextdoor to "the big car lover" country..You guys didn't get a lot of 70s smaller RWD cars. The 720 Ute diff held up in the HoneyBee powered by the 350Z engine.

But like we have said many times. A car with a big engine and a weaker diff..the driver determines if the diff breaks, not the engine.

If you get a massive diff, the car will handle like crap, and be thump and bump around on the road.

There is such a thing as too big. You want the diff just big enough that your engine won't break under normal conditions.

The car is 35 years old now, as are many of our parts donors, thanks to tightass manufacturers, bad drivers, and the stupidity of the masses who buy FWD small cars..

That's becoming the real problem.

I have a diff out of a 74 710 also, and one out of a 720, and a 620 but not sure if I want to run 2 bolt patterns, no not really, so I guess what about the 710 diff?, or another suggestions I can go through one if its old I set up rear ends all the time in my race truck, so that parts not a problem unless parts are not available.

I have heard of hilux or in your country 4 runner diffs being used before

4 runners over hear are 6 lug I am trying to stay away from mixed matched bolt patterns, but I will keep that in mind

I have a whole running 74' 710 2 door, I was wondering if there would be anything I could use off of this for my 71 1200 sedan 2 door.

The diff code for the Toyota diff is on the ID plate under the bonnet on the fire wall ,, IT will say "TRANS/DIFF" on the plate .. then it will give you Letter then 3 numbers ,,For example .. E256 if you can find that ,, i can tell you what spec diff it is and what ratio ,, be careful you dontget confused and read the transmission number .. cheers cameron
