g'day all,
hoping someone can give me an answer or an exploded diagram. i've done the stanza upgrade and had real ordinary braking after due to air in the master cyinder, that's now all gone after a bleed, but now the calipers aren't releasing properly so i've decided to give them an over haul (i know should've done it first) i've spoken to a couple people and they reckon it's pretty staight forward. my concern is i like having an exploded diagram or similar when doing these things but cant find one on the net, and the 3 different car manuals i have, have different caliper/piston setups ....... ????
so what i'm after is an exploded diagram for the stanza girlock caliper, or reassurance that it is pretty straight forward ??
thanks in advance

There pretty easy.
If you have a compressor use cmpressed air through the brake line hole & pop the piston out. You might have a bit of trouble getting them out. When you get the piston out check it for rust & pitting. That is normaly a cause of sticking calipers. You can use water to clean them out but make sure you dry them properly. Replace the inner seal get some PBR rubber grease wipe it over the piston & push it in a litle bit. The triky bit is getting the dust boot on properly so put the dust boot over the piston & with a small screw drive gently push the boot under the lip when you have done that push the piston in. Then replace the slide boots & you will have a o,hauld caliper.
Hope this info was helpful
Oh yeh see if you can get a major caliper kit they come with pistons
good luck

adrian are you sure that its not your pushrod causing your brakes to drag... ?

when i did mine i noticed the standard pushrod when held in by the circlip to an aftermarket master cylinder doesnt allow the piston to fully return (because the indents at the end of the pistons are different) which leaves the brakes slightly allways on....

i ended up making my own adjustable pushrod to suit...

it probably doesnt make much sense but id be happy to explain it furthur if you dont know what i mean

chances are your calipers are fine..
