OLDEST SCAM IN THE BOOK.

Email the guy back, and tell him you've forwarded his details onto the local authorities. You might want to consider actually doing that.

Chris

He gives you a cheque using illegal details..
You give him clean cash from your account.
Your bank then figures out that his cheque is dodgy and bounces it. You end up $4000 poorer, the cheque is worthless, and your car never gets picked up.

The Nigerian economy goes up AU$4000....

I will be waiting to hear from you as soon as possible so we can finanlise on the paymet and pick up/shipment.Meanwhile,i will be paying you with money orders and plz do notify me if you are comfortable with my mode of payment so we can proceed imediately. Thanks and God bless you.

Mr Cally."

That was my similar email regarding my WANTED ad for Datsun Sunnys... it was from cally@myway.com.

I sent an email back telling him he is a d***head, a scammer and should really look into what he was scamming... only an idiot would say it about a WANTED ad...

yeah another thing that happens is the guy will ask for all your details so he can do a RCVS (i think thats the correct term) so he can make sure the car is good.

Once you do that he then uses your details and pics to sell your car to other people but he' sin a different coutry but is able to use all the details you gave him then people get interested and make deposits on the car etc and they never see that money again and because they are in another country the cops can't do ####.

I hate scammers and I wish they get what they deserve.

cheers
Damo

If they don't say "cheers" but say instead "best regards" they're probably in another country.

best thing to do is sell local, and with cash, but that doesn't always work out.

We've had it before someone bought something off us, then left a note under the front door, sorry i've changed my mind, check's been cancelled.
Later we found he'd dropped it back off, but it could easily have been stolen after he dropped it off.

If your selling something by check, give them a recipt for the check or something, but don't let them have it until the money is safely in the bank. TRUST NO ONE!

Never accept a PERSONAL CHEQUE (they're rare in Australia anyhow) but BANK CHEQUES are different. They are only supplied by a financial institution when the drawer has the funds to cover it and they usually cost a few bucks to get, also.
