Hi All, I've just done a dry fit up with the Celica steelcase 5 speed in the ute. Neat fit inside the tunnel but it needs a bit of a massage in a few places for clearance . The A series auto bell housing with an adaptor plate works a treat , $50.00 worth of machining , $10.00 worth of bolts and now we have a bullet proof 5 speed that won't grenade behind an A14.
Now , what I need is some one to crawl under their 1200 with a straight edge and a tape measure. I forgot ( stupid!) to measure the hight of the output shaft on the 4 speed before yankin the whole lot , now I'm unsure of what hight I need to re set the Celica output shaft at for tailshaft alignment . If someone could venture under their 1200 , place a straightedge under the rear sub chasis below the extreme rear of the gearbox and measure up to the underside of the tailshaft cover. You know the removable steel "dust" cover that slips over the end of the gearbox .
With out thes measurement, I'll have to remove the engine and gearbox, remove the 5 speed , bolt up the 4 speed again and re fit the whole lot to take the measurement. Then remove the whole lot again , seperate the 4 speed , bolt up the 5peed ... yada yada yada......
Thanks in advance, J.
