Hey guys,
I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on mods for a stock a12 engine in a Datsun 1200 ute to get it running smoothly for a daily driver. Ive had a look through the tech section but couldnt find anything
I've decided id like to keep the original A12 engine in the ute so for the moment full engine conversion is out of the picture.

Yeah! Here`s a suggestion.
My ute runs the standard (fitted) a12 and my modifications are a holley, good cam, head porting, 4:2:1 extractors, electronic dizzy, full balance, lightened flywheel, sunny 5speed, big suspension etc.etc.etc.....
Oh! and I forgot to mention a blower that makes it HOWL like a wolf (with 10psi up its arse!!!!!)
I drive it everyday by the way!!!!

Hope this HELPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some simple things you can do: header/extracter two inch exhaust , weber 32/36 carb. If you take the head off you can put in the A14 valves and add GX daul valves springs which will let it rev to 7800 RPM's . To install a cam will require the engine to be removed. Something aorund the GX spec cam will be very streetable. Horsepower will be 80ish. This is a big improvement over stock.
Much more than this and the stock brakes will have to go....they aren't real good to begin with.
