Hey guys
Was thinking about sidedrafts and induction today and was thinking. I know that they are ment for racing and ment to get as much air and fuel into combustion chamber and wat not. But how much fuel does it use? Does it chew it or not??

Thanks guys

How much fuel your car uises is entirely up to you & no-one else.
If you use carbs in good condition, have them sized to your engine size & expected usage, then have them tuned by a competent man on a dyno, you will get the best of both worlds. Stick your foot in it & it will run nice & hard,... drive it easy & you will be pleasantly surprised just how economical it can be.

On the other hand, buy some worn carbs & just bolt them on in the hope that the jetting is OK, then flog the ring out of it & you might think you were driving a rotary engine when it comes time to pay the fuel bill.

It's all up to you, & setting them up properly is not cheap, but you reap the benefit every day after that.

I read somewhere that you can jet them for two of three factors. The three factors being
response
economy
and power
I can't see economy being an issue for an A14 or A15.....or can it? just how bad, is bad, when it comes to economy for these motors?

As you can see, yours is not a simple question.

I will tell you this, your sidedrafts will cry out for a good cam, and depending on how agressive you go on the profile, that will have a serious effect on fuel economy.

what do you think an A15 with 11.0-11.5:1 compression ratio, 54/86 cam and twin DCOE 40 webers would be like on fuel?
