i won't to start to mod my 1200 any suggestions, it is completely stock exept for mags and a black parcle shelf...

i was thinking of getting disks for the frount, because.... well i don't think i need to explain... what is the eazest/popular/cheapest conversion?? would a 120y set up be good?? or maybe the later model ute had disks (i think). they need to be able to stand up to a bit of spirited driveing and the occasional track day,do they make up rated pads to suit 120y or other datsuns???

also the suspension is a nother area that i think needs improving... i read that 120y rear leafs fit in and are thicker, is this true and would it make my rear stick up like a duck??

thanks

id go for a stanza front end, much better than the 120y discs and not much harder to fit

http://datsun1200.com/modules/newbb/v ... ic_id=18268&forum=1#93015

thats the whole conversion i think, got lots of info there. also compares 120y to stanza

I find buying drinks for attractive women is sometimes a good investment.

Suspension and brakes is a good start..read the technical section. We've discussed this to death, and it totally depends on what you can find in your car wrecking yards..

For track days, you'll need to look at using stanza lower arms and getting some Datsun 1600/180B larger type struts/brakes installed. Bigger brakes means bigger wheels, a lot of larger brakes don't fit under 13inch wheels. So 14inch mags or 15 inch mags are needed.

No good things in life are cheap, even bad things in life cost money. Make sure you have the funds before starting, with no machine shop facilities or skills you might be looking at $300-$1000 for a brake upgrade.

Uprated pads..not anymore really. There are more benefits in going larger disks/calipers, which generally means a strut change.

Rear suspension, get a reversed eye/extra leaf combination. Pedders can help you there. Doing it yourself (without adequate experience) is dangerous. Budget $500-$1000 for new suspension.

Welcome to the joys of owning a money pit

Maybe the new TV is a good option.

i no im talking to my self but dose this sound ok??

in the rear, pedders rear leaf things, desent stiff shocks and check the drums for and replace shoes if worn.

and in the frount, stiffer springs and shocks, 120y sway bar and can i just get 120y frount hubs with brakes and bolt them up?? i don't need anything relly hard core at the moment. if i found these inadequete i could look at bigger brakes later. do you recon i could keep my 13's they look ok and i don't want attention of the unwanted kind. it will get puntted around a bit but not raced competitively just occasionaly on weekends and back roads if anyone could ither confirm or correct me that would be grate

thanks guys

Nope. the struts are different. your best bet is to get 120y or sunny struts complete and then all you have to do is swap the strut tops over (these are different on all the later model datto's and will give you increased ride height if you don't swap them) so you will need some spring compressors ($50 Aud). You may need to get new brake lines depeding on the model of strut you go for. Thge sunny ones have larger disks and will work better than 120y.

Your current 13" rims will work fine with either of these upgrades.
