Thank you, much appreciated. The sump pan on my A14 is badly damaged, and has been repaired with epoxy by a previous owner.. Leaks a bit of oil.

I have a spare A12 or 2, and will use a sump pan off one of those. Anything else that should be checked while i have the sump off?

I believe it will bolt up but your conrod bolts will hit on one side. I know its the case with A15's. One side of your A14 sump will have ripples in it to clear the bolts as the crank turns.
I could be wrong on the A14, but a simple look at your sump will tell you.

The simple answer is YES and NO.

The oil pan from a 1970 to '73 Datsun A12 engine, better known as the 1200 engine will not fit
The pan from the 1974 & onwards A12 will fit.
As far as I know, it's only the A15 engine that has dimples on one side of the pan to clear the con rods as the A15 has the longest stroke. I believe that the A14 rods clear the non dimpled sumps, so,... as long as your donor engines have the distributor under No, 3 spark plug, you should be OK.

I believe all A series sumps will bolt up to all A series. (A10 unknown)There is differences though. The dipstick will still fit with either sump but early A12 sump on any other higher A series will require the dipstick to slide past the edge of the sump. Atleast thats what I have encountered, books might say otherwise. There is a correct and incorrect gasket to use depending on which style of A series is being used. Using the wrong gasket on the late A12 - A15 will result in the dipstick being wiped clean on removal, this will then make it appear as though the engine is low on oil.
