My car needs a diet....lets here some wieghts |

OK Sunday I went ot our tech day and wiegh in. The car and been scales in a few years and I wnated to check corner wieghts. So first: the cross wieght is off by 54lbs , no biggie there. But holy cow my car weighs 1764........could be the all the street gear, passenger seat and added bracing I put on in anticipation of some tarmac rally. The car gained 90lbs and I've ballooned out to a 146lbs (nearly 30lbs in 20 years). Man no wonder why the 85HP wonder doesn't roar dwon straights.......OK so who else is driving a blimp??

Well.. My CA18det powered Sedan with the heavier Borg Warner diff weighs in at 1807 pounds. So don't feel too bad.

1807lb = 821kg. Are you sure you car is that light? Most CA18 turbo 1200 race cars (stripped but with cage) weigh in at mid 900 to low 1000kg. My L series coupe weighed in at 851kg

Never heard of anyone getting lighter than Marsh's shellsport coupe. 576kg (you could run alloy cages in those days!) I got down to 592kg with a steel cage... 900kg is heavy, the 240rs is just under that, with the bloody huge FJ and tank driveline

Not for IPRA it isn't. Our rules require steel panels and bumpers, full glass, operating lights & wipers, operating window mechanisms and door opening mechanisms retain dash and interior trim under window-line (except floor coverings), and don't allow for drilling, cutting, or otherwise modifying parts for weight reduction. Bit different to how you guys get to run in NZ from the pics I've seen of the shellsport (and similar) coupes.

ouch. So do the rules cope with limited production specials, eg, could you run a 240RS in groupB trim, with all the fibreglass panels etc if they are in the homologation papers?

no, not in improved production. that would put you in the sport sedan class at the hillclimbs and sprints here.
EDIT: but they might let it run in normal classes at historic meetings. I've seen one or two BDA MkI escorts with the forest flares. but then, hysterics (oops, historics) don't seem to like Datsuns - especially with lairy paintjobs!
Targa Tas or Classic Adelaide wouldn't have a problem with it though. So many set of rules...

My 1200 comes in at 1370lbs I need to remove another 10lbs, min weight for my car 1350lbs

My cars minimum weight inc driver is 730kg with my engine capacity (under 1600cc) Thats 1606lbs. Car alone weighs 1364lb (620kg)
If I ignore class rules and just play in the hillclib and sprinty events we can take out as much weight as we like My car could get to 550kg (1210lb) without too much trouble by using some lighter glass front panels,glass doors, etc. Then we need to take 30kg out of the driver and make anther 50hp and we'd give those Escorts a shake up in U2L outright. Some slicks would be nice for some more grip too.

It may have been 880kgs. Remember that sedans are lighter. If it was 880 then I'm at 1940 lbs.
I don't have the docs, but I do have a weighbridge cert in the car at my parents place.. It was 8x0kgs.
880kgs makes more sense, given your weights.
