Hey people, Im stumped when it comes to my brakes. Story so far is I am rebuilding my 1200 ute decided it needed to stop better so i chucked in a 180B Girlock dual cylinder brake booster. A few things needed modification - new brake lines for the front brakes, shortening of the shaft that attaches to the brake pedal and really that was about all. Problem 1- The front brakes werent getting brake fluid so i took apart the master cylinder and unblocked it. fixed. Problem 2- One of my junctions was leaking. fixed. I've bled the brake three times but im not getting any pedal. Are there any adjustments i could make to get it working? how do i tell if the whole thing is stuffed?. Ive checked for leaks at all junctions, blocked the brake lines at the master cylinder at got pressure on the pedal. There are no kinks in the lines. Its got me stumped Any help much appreciated.

I'm no brake expert, but sounds like you have damaged the seals. Can be during reassembly after fixing the blockage, or even using a full pedal stroke during bleeding if it was an old second hand unit. Sometimes a lip forms in the bore (just like a motor) at usual pedal travel over 20 years. When you bleed using a full pedal, the worn edge of the seal gives in and no pedal is the result. I am assuming that you bled the master cylinder, then the system - failing to bleed the master after disassembly will also result in no pedal. Good luck!
Cheers

bleed the master?

i just bled the only way i know how. fill up the reservoir and bleed at each wheel whilst the pedal is held down. Will that bleed the master?

Your master cyl should have a bleed nipple as well - have a look on the side - once you have bled the air from the m/c you can then go to each wheel.
Hope this helps.
