Hi everybody i am the new boy on here so please stick with me if i get it all wrong,i am hoping you could help me with some tech info ,i live in the U.K. but own a1956 ford f100 which was built in the states around 15 yrs ago, here is my problem i need to replace my rear brake pads and caliper pistons, but have been unable to find out the doner vehicle, but after 3 weeks solid on the net i found a pic of an axle which looks the same as mine,it is pic no 25 submitted by Daveman and as far as i can tell this unit was fitted to an R31 pintara is this a borg warner 78 series or a ford 8.8 axle, the axle in the photo looks the same but i have looked at pintara calipers and they look to modern compared to mine. Did they fit that axle to anything older which may have also been used in the states ,just for the records they are cast units with single pots and i have vented discs Hoping anybody can help with this as seeing the axle on your site has given me a glimmer of hope of identifying my calipers and pads Thanks in advance KEV

Hi Kev,
We didn't get Nissan Pintara in USA, so no ideas there.
If they are Ford calipers, they should have a "E" or "F" part number cast in, like E8xx where the xx is some number maybe four digits. Let us know if they have that, and what the number is. The axle housing might also have a casting number, but a little metal tag attached to the CW&P plate is what should be there on a factory setup.
A most popular Ford 8.8 swap is from a circa 1987 Continental Mark VII or Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, since they have factory rear disk brakes.
