hey guys im currently running an rx7 series 3 or 4 turbo on my A14 and im sure it has a T03 flange onto the exhaust manifold. i dont know much about turbos and i want to buy a new turbo as soon as i can but i was just wonderin what other turbos would have a t03 flange that might be suitable for an a14 ie a t25 or a t28 something cheeper and easier to find would be good. what exhaust flange does a t25 and a t28 have?

thanks all

I just got my turbo off and appart and it seems as if the seals have gone and worn out the bearings because it screams it head off and the front housing is full of oil.

Ive found an fj20 turbo for $350 that should be the same but i would have liked something smaller if possible

T3 flange is too big for an a-series.

The T25 flange is the go. All CA18/SR20 turbos are T25 flange from the factory.

u dont need to make a new manifold, just go to exhaust shop and buy a t2 flange, or just give them the manifold and get them, to do it. i think a fj turbo is probly too big i have a t25 on my ute and it is plenty, even on 7psi my car went very well without and intercooler, i reckon a t3 would probly be inefficient on an a series motor.... depends on the mods

got my act togeather now and rang around this morning and ended up choosing a ballbearing t3 water and oil cooled turbo from an rb20 which set me back $400 because the owner thought it was a bush bearing t25 till he realized after i had bought it (lucky me $400 bargin).

anyway the rear housing is about the same size maybe a bit smaller than the one that was on there and the front housing is about the same size but the fan inside the housing is huge almost double the size and looks heaps better so i hope that is good. with the old bush almost worn out turbo i would get full boost by 3000-3500rpm (about15psi) so with my guestimations im hoping the new ballbearing turbo will get full boost by 2000-2500rpm i might be wrong but i hope im right.....any one got any thoughts on that???

oh well got a bit of work to do now but should be good when its done!

Well i finally got the turbo on and an exhaust made up, made the water lines and plumbed up the oil lines, took the car for a test drive and the turbo screamed its head off man was i pissed off. So my bargin turbo turns out to not be such a bargin after all (stupid me should have known better).

I got a few rebiuld quotes and they ranged from $2100 to $1100 so im not going to afford to eat for the next few weeks lol.

Oh well live and learn I supose

$1100 is really expensive for a rebuild. You could buy a brand new turbo for that. Ring around a bit more.

what do you mean the turbo screams it head off?? Turbos do generate ALOT of noise and you especially hear them in a 1200 due to the lack of sound deadening in the engine bay....
When you buy the turbo check for bearing wear, thrust and axial (thrust meaning pushing in our out and axial is sideway movement, also check for any fin damage.
