aiight yall, bout two years ago i bought my lil 210 wagon. always been a v dub guy bout quickly fell in love with the dat-rat. every thing is original, save the washer/squirter motor, batt, alternator, and starter. just hit 98k, which ain't bad for the 78 datty. this past winter i replaced the intake/exhaust manifold gasket. a new one was not available to me from the dealership or the import parts houses in my town, so i cut one myself. i also rebuilt the carb and...shhh, got rid of that crappy egr valve. though i'm nowhere near finished building the period corect rally car i want i'm lookin for a way to get more power out of it. maybe a turbo? but what will fit? all i want is more oomph; for lack of a better phrase. it's an automatic so i'm hesitant to just bore it out an slam in some new parts. gotta a 0-60 in bout 13 now...but hills totally kill that and i live in western nc...plenty of steep mountain roads. so turn me on to some ideas!

Extractors
Side draught carbies (webers or SUs)
Manual transmission
Head work (increasing the intake valve diameters)

Just a couple of ideas - the carbies will have the biggest impact...(with pulling the engine apart) but will be costly

The carbies + head work + extractors will give plenty of power - goes back to the whole engine = a big air pump.

Chucking an A14/A15 would be the cheapest power upgrade of all.

the stalling around corners could be from improperly adjusted floats in your carb. or possibly a lose ignition wire

Hey Mikie,
I am in Western NC as well. The single best thing that you could do is to switch out the auto. I know of a possible parts car in Waynesville - whereabouts are you?
