what is the best approach to cutting a guard? I will be cutting the frontedge of the wheelarch back, pretty much taking the corner off, so the tyre doesnt rub. is it better to
cut about 7-8 mm extra, and fold it under to make a new lip, or just cut it clean online? is it better to use tinsnips, or something else? has anyone got pics of their guards
with or without flares?

thanks, Linc.

ps still waiting to find out what to do with the vacuum advance hose when webers go on.....

Don't butcher it. Do what I did. I have 195 60R14 on my car and they work fine.
Make some shims around 1" square and drill a hole through the center. Remove the housing around the head lights (chrome and such). Remove the 2 bolts that hold the finder in the front (top
and bottom to the outside of the light). Reach down on the fender in front of the tire and pull it forward and up. Slide the shims in. What you are doing is flexing the fender. When you think
you have flexed it enough, shim the top bolt snug. Find some longer bolt and fasten them down. If you need to shim more, make more shims but drill the hole in the center and cut a grove in it
so that all you need to do is loosen the bolt and slide more shims in. As for the firewall on the back side of the tire, let it rub and remove the tire. Where it is smooth, pound it out and
use the black undercoating material in the spray can. Spray it on and check then check for more rubs. Repeat if necessary.
That's about it.
