Hey guys. I had idea about a simple way of making some more room in a 1200 ute today. For all us taller people that own a 1200 ute I reckon a good thing to do would be to cut the dash smaller (as in the back of the dash). I know there isnt anything to important or anything that needs alot of room behind the dash. I thnk you could get a good 4inch out on the dash and it wouldnt make things look to different at all, maybe just a longer looking steering colum.

I am just over 6ft and I slouch down abit in the seat so doesnt look to weird a tall person in small car ... I find its just my knees that hit the dash and another 4inchs or so would make a big difference! and would make it look alot bigger in the cab.

I think it could be done and still look stock and really good

Some issues would be the heat vents at top, but you could redo other ones in ur smaller dash. there may be some issues with the heater im not sure. The side of the dash might need some attension and the mounting brackets would need re-doing. the dash may not sit flush as it does stock but think it could still look good.

Its not something I am doing in the near future haha, but tihnk it would be a pretty cool thing for more room in the little ute

What do you guy's think?... im not un happy with the room in my ute trust me i would put up for it for ever love the 1200. But this could help others that are silly hieghts 6'3 +etc like demojob

Just an idea. Dont think it has been mentioned before.

Hahaha no ... But could make it more comfortable for all shapes and size's. Not too hard of a mod either and dont think it would take away from a stocker/good look.

I have seen people who have put the nissan silva dash in.
But I think you should mod an old school one.
just make a template of the dash bolts and vents and shorten it accordingly.
I have not done this yet but have thought about it a bit

It could be done but 4in is a lot and the wiper mech would get in the way.
Just cut out the dash where your knees hit

do you have the origional bench seat? try putting 2 bucket seats in, you will los room behind the seats, but you will have more leg room.

They came with buckets bro. I like the thought of modifying knees. Go get yourself lowered.
