as far as i know all 1200 ute's had H165 diff's.. ive never seen one with any other diff yet..

the smaller h145 and the borg warner from the 120y will fit in but the h165 is strongest..

whats wrong with your diff?

Hey mate, a stanza centre will fit, just not the whole housing as that is wider.

1971-1973 utes used the H145 diff
1975-1985 used the H165
see diff overview

It will generally last for years even with a whine, if you have the correct oil in it and the oil is at the right level. It won't get quieter though.

hey mate, i've got a series II bluebird diff in my 1200 ute, i bought it like that, but i'm under the impression it goes in quite easily, plus it's got a lower ratio so the engine revs are kept quite low, great for the freeway

all ute diffs that had H165 had 4.11 : 1

stanza had 3.9:1

At 3.9 to 1 the Bluebird & Stanza diffs have a HIGHER ratio, which makes for reduced RPM levels on the highway.
At the LOWER ratio of 4.11 to 1, the ute diff is better for load carying, hill climbing & acceleration, but with the original 12" wheels, it just plain sucks on the highway.
