righteo i need a list of what 5spds came in what car.

am i right in saying a sunny had the 63A?
what cars came with the 60series in them and what came out with the 56series in them?

im looking around and wringing wreckers tryin to see if they have "63A" or "F5W60A" gearboxes and they just sorta go "what the hell is this guy on about"
so if i had car names i'd have more luck i think.

The Australian Sunny Sportswagon [WPB310] was sold here with the A14 engine, a 60 series four speed trans & an H150 diff with 3.9 to 1 ratio for most of its production run.
Near the end of production they switched to the A15 engine, but retained the 60 series four speeder, & it had an H150 diff in 3.7 to 1 ratio.

This is the tag from an Aussie WPB310 [Sunny Sportswagon]
It has the A15 engine, the four speed [F4W60L] & the code HB37 is the H150 diff in 3.7 to 1 ratio.

While I believe that some examples of the B310 were in fact sold here with a five speed, they are excedingly rare & seem to have been one-offs as the five speed was not listed in any of the Australian models of the car. This box is also not shown in the Australian version of the factory service manual.

All Australian models that were fitted with the A10, 1200 or A12 engine came aith a 56 series trans.

Same for USA and Canada, and I'm pretty sure the same was true in Japan.

The A12 doesn't need the heavier transmissions. The light 56-series transmissions are strong enough and go faster ... remember to always add lightness, as the Datsun engineers did.

[edit, then in a later post]

i was just going with what the tech section says.

From technical section in relation to five speed gearboxes.Quote:
Where can I get one?

In the USA:
The B310 5-speed is common and inexpensive. etc. etc.

In Australia,
Ask around. They can be hard to find and expensive.

The five speed was not offered in Australian models, so all of the five speeds that exist here were imported via one means or another.
Fortunately, there have been a small number of five speeds on offer here recently, so one should turn up for the man who is patient.

5 speeds are pure gold here in the UK they are so rare. Only the very last of the B310 coupes sold had them and I think only on cars with A15's. MG people like to use them as upgrades too which makes them even more in demand. I've only managed to lay my hands on two in the last ten years
