VVT equipped SR20's have a hump (on the rocker cover) at the front of the inlet cam.

I think the S14 DE's do all have VVL. There is an actuator solenoid on the front right hand side of the head near the front of the inlet cam. Also, there's an extentsion to the front of the cam cover in front of the intake came to allow for the VVL sprocket.

What colour will the rocker cover be? Iv seen a black rocker cover VVL engine but im sure that was from an S15. If it has the normal not painted cover could it still be VVT? ill ahve a look for the actuator. thanks for the quick reply's!!!

just a quick point - variable inlet timing is nothing like the equivalent of Honda's VTEC!

As i understand, honda's is technically better, It varies the intake and exhaust cam timing. That's why it's better. Doesn't it also have a way to change the cam profile as well as the timing?

Nissan's only changes the intake cam timing. So isn't as good.

The SR20DE VVT only has a variable intake cam (timing only) but doesn't the SR20VE has variable timing and lift on both cams?
