Hi everyone, Firstly i have a 77 1200 ute which is stock. I am wanting to upgrade the front struts on my 1200 as well as lowered springs. I have read that the 120y struts bolt straight in. Is there a certain year model to get? and also is there any bolt on brake packages once i have the struts so everything is new? also i am getting a set of 15 inch wheels, would you recomend a 2inch lowered spring? hope you can help me out.

Stanza struts with girlock brakes is a straight bolt on and better than the 120Y

check this out
TECH SECTION - Brake Upgrade

regarding wheels just check your offset and wheel outside diametre if you dont want to modify your guards.
Try Pintara TRX rims ?

Although as I understand there is still some mucking around to get the stanza struts to fit.....I'm planning to have a crack at this conversion too one day.

Not a straight bolt in but not difficult. The only real challenge is changing the strut tops over, if you haven't used used spring compressors before it can be a bit freaky watching them take up all that load, and undoing the (usually rusted in) brake lines.

Spring crompressors do look dodgy but actually work quite well. When i first bought my stanza struts i didnt have spring compressors so did the good ol, put extension bar on ratchet, turn head and pray. No damgage done to me or anything else. Sure do come out with some speed though.

I just undid the nut while it was in the car, then let it down on a jack. Piece of piss

Mine were from the wreckers so they were already out of the car. No chance to jack it down. Turned out sweet.

On topic: Go the stanza upgrade. It is very easy to do. Really its no harder than a 120y upgrade you just have to undo and do up a few more nuts and bolts.
