i dont know the exact change over date but i would say about 1977~ so there was a lot of a12/14/15 produced by then i would guess that there is plenty of them around. I could be dead wrong

I think the Sunny 310 A12s had nissan, as did the A14. I would guess about August 1973 was the departure of the Datsun name.

Mopar is right. A10 engines started out with no name & a sticker that said Datsun 1000, but it would seem that sometime at the end of the model run, they started to stamp the Datsun name in them. The lack of the Datsun name in the illustration in the parts book would be because it's just that,... an illustration that basicly represents the part that you need a number for.
They are not actually 'rare' but will possibly be hard to find on the day that you actually need one.
The GX one seems to be the same pressing as the regular ones, but with an extra mounting point for the rear part of the GX's fuel line at the rear carb.

Quote: Ahh, I wondered why my rocker cover had no stamping...... GX!! that motor was pulled from a 1000 so it could well be the 1000 cover. I was going to pull the 'datsun' cover off the a12 and hang it on the wall before you took it but got lazy...

I own a 1974 datsun 120y and it has DATSUN stamped on the rocker cover. I believe they changed to the word NISSAN in late 1974 or the start of '75'. I own a 1977 120y and it says NISSAN on the rocker cover.
