Hey all

Busily trying to finish the blue coupe before the arrival of the new one....I tried to fit the crossmember to the motor tonight. (The crossmember being a late model ute one) to the A14 motor.

The brackets on the engine seem about 40-50mm wider than the bolts on the crossmember.

I was interested to know what others might have done - as I understood you could use this crossmember with minimum fuss.

Here's a couple of photos.

Pretty sure I got those to - as they were still bolted on to the cross member. The late ones have to second 'dimple' that fits in the little hole in the crossmember I believe...

I think that he got the late ute crossmember so that he could do the job in a professional manner & avoid the backyard engineering.

I'm guessing that the engine brackets are the ones that came with the engine. I suppose that the late ute ones are different.

Hmmm your probably onto something Dodgeman.

I'll dig through the photo album....

I have some 120Y brackets and 1200 brackets - both make the engine sit too low, the crossmember doesn't clear the sump with them on.

Anyone got a clear photo of their A12 mounted in a 1200 ute (post 1974)...

Dizzy side needs a 120Y dizzy side metal mount bracket like pictured below. A stock early A12 dizzy side metal mount bracket will work but will need to be trimmed in the top right corner to clear the fuel pump. The 120Y mount is already trimmed from factory.

Nice work Phunk! I'd tried both 120Y mounts - hadn't exhausted every combination.

Sunny mount manifold side, 120Y mount dizzy side did the trick.

Here's a couple of shots showing it. (Although the bracket I have on my dizzy side looks a little different to the photo you posted Phunk). I pulled it off a late A12....which I assumed was from a 120Y.

May hazy memory remembers something about the tops of the Uprights being slotted on the 120Y, is this the case with the ute x-member? You need to slide the mounts out.

It is a mix and match of mounts, Phunk is probably spot on.

I would swap the rubber mount with the over-rider on it to the passenger side where it will be used more.

Just had another look at the photos. That dizzy side mount is not sitting parallel to the upright. Change it to the mount Phunk suggested and it looks like it will fall together.
