I know it'll make the purists spew, but has anyone seen it done?

Can maybe get a whole rusted out scorpion, idea being to use the bigger diff wiyth rear discs - well why not use the donk & 5spd as well?

I haven't measured anything yet so it might be too tall & the box mightn't fit (though I do have an auto shell) so yeah, apart from the whole Bitsaremissing stigma, is it a stupid idea?

Looking forward to some constructive replies

I do remember seeing in fast 4's or what not, a number of years ago. In the readers cars section, a 1200 with a astron motor. Never heard or seen anything more of it.
If you want it to fit, I am sure you will make it fit.

The astron can be made to punch out some very respectable numbers. Especially in turbo form. One year i was up at willowbank(drags) with my uncle and his crew and in the tent next to us there was a rail powered by a astron. It was very well built and was running low 8s. Predicted around 500 odd hp. On the friday it tossed a bottom end so they rushed out straight down to the wreckers and chucked in another bottom end. Stock as a rock. They were scraping the carbon off the pistons on friday night. Saturday in came out and ran its quickest time yet and held together all weekend.

Sorry irrelevent to the question but you get the idea. As much as im not a fan off them they certainly have my respect after that weekend.

go for it ,the sigma 2.6 is one of the biggest 4s around wth a cross flow ally head ,the turbo sigma were one of the first street registered cars to make it into the 10 second mark .You could always do a conversion using the rear disks and put them onto the datsun diff ass they are the same stud pattern and mount the calipers .

The 2.6 litre astron motor was used first in some of the early (1978-79) Sigma's
but most used the thirsty 2.0 litre astron
The 2.6 astron were more commonly found in the GJ - GN Sigma models.
My first car was a GK 2.6 litre sigma, which we still own and performs very well.
anyway I am now a nissan/datsun enthusiast and will never look back.

GO THE DATTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does that mean it will be called a MITSUN

For straight line go for it but the ka24de flows more weighs the same and you can almost get 2.5 litres with a head that has twin 36mm inlet valves!!! imagine the possibilities, someone somewhere was looking at using a diesel crank to make a 3 liter version for boost but cant find the link.

Many of the Mishybishy engines of this time frame seemed to have dramas with the drive to oil pumps & counterbalance shafts. We had Mishybishi's in the fleet back then & had more problems with them that Nissan & Toyota's combined by a wide margin.
The one engine that gave us no trouble at all was the Saturn engines. They were great. We had them in vans & they were really good, but Sigma's & front drive Magna's were well known for engine or gearbox problems.
