I dont often post off topic but this was too good to pass up!
For all those that are interested in motorsport but without all the ongoing repair bills, have a look at this. It looks like serious fun and gives a bit of an indication what rally racing can be like

I WANT ONE.

Go to: http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?d ... 7117726&q=rally+simulator

Sorry I couldnt figure out how to create a direct link

I notice they are "made to order" - expensive toy me thinks, although its probably cheaper than running a rally team over a couple of years

yeah Ive looked into this, being an ex simulator and aircraft maintenance engineer for Qantas. Way too expensive and Paul is right, easier and cheaper to run the real thing. One thing it would be good for it to take to races and charge people for the privilidge of riding in it...

The que would extend out to the street, & hell, I'd be right up the front of it with cash in hand.
If people are going to laugh at how bad a rally driver I am, I would rather it be in this than a real car. Well, if nothing else, it's instantly re-useable after a major wipeout.

Yeh I got those skills too, when an experienced eye is cast over it you soon realise its a pretty trick bit of gear. There has been a sheetload of design, build and development time put into it. "made to order" cost is probably justified.
Still, it doesnt matter how hard they try they still cant simulate the same rush you get from sliding sideways at speed on a rough dirt surface. I must admit this toy is the closest thing to what it is really like that I have ever seen.
You are right Dodgeman, there would probably be a long line of happy customers.
