I know some of you blokes will be able to sort this out. has me stumped from what i have read.

With my 1000 Wags i bought came 3 A10s. 1 is differnt. It has a late A12 style block. Dizzy in the middle, fuel pump at the front, Rear crank breather, emmisions head(big thermo housing, round port). It has a A12 fuel pump on it and a 1000 metal fan

The engine number is A10 313598

anybody have any idea?

Heres a crappy pic, can get a better one

I think they ran A10's in the E10 or F10 front wheel drive cars.

The distributor in that position indicates a 1974-or-newer engine.

Which Datsuns came with an A10 after 1973? There you will find the answer.

Look at the front of the engines & compare the distance between the top of the timing case & the top of the block, [head gasket face] & compare with the 'regular' A10's
If this one has a bigger gap, then it has a longer stroke & would therefore be a re-stamped fraud.

What about the A10 engine in the 1976 Datsun 100A (E10 Cherry)? Would that have the new-style block?

Well i think i solved the mystery!

It has a bigger gap from top of timing case to the deck of the block then the other A10s.

Plus where would i get a motor out of a Cherry in WA? I know of 2!
